Q1 — What material are you conveying?

Be specific. 'Boxes' and 'cartons of pharmaceutical tablets' require very different conveyors. Include: material name, form (loose/packed/unit), moisture content if relevant, temperature if elevated.

Q2 — What is the weight per piece or bulk density?
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
For piece goods: weight of heaviest individual item (kg)
For bulk material: bulk density (kg/m³) — check your material datasheet

Q3 — What is the required throughput?

State clearly: pieces per hour, bags per hour, or TPH (tonnes per hour)
Include peak throughput, not just average — conveyors must handle your busiest periods.

Q4 — What is the conveying distance?
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Measure from the loading point (Point A) to the discharge point (Point B) in metres.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Q5 — Is there any elevation change?
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
State: horizontal, inclined, declined — and the rise or fall in metres, or the angle in degrees.

Q6 — What is the available floor or ceiling space?
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Width of the passage, any columns or obstacles in path, ceiling height above the conveyor route.

Q7 — What is the operating environment?
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Indoor or outdoor? Dusty, wet, oily, corrosive, high temperature, cleanroom? This determines the frame material, sealing and drive selection.

Q8 — What are the hygiene or compliance requirements?

Food-grade (PU belt, SS frame)? GMP/pharma (IQ/OQ documentation, crevice-free design)? Chemical-resistant (SS 316, FRP)? Or standard industrial (MS painted)?

Q9 — How will the conveyor be controlled?

Manual on/off switch? Variable speed via VFD? PLC-integrated with your production line? Sensor-triggered (auto-start, auto-stop)? This affects motor and panel selection significantly.
